Select a colorful sock for the doll's body (For our sock doll we used an ankle sock, but if you want to use a longer sock you can just cut off the top portion of the sock). Fill it with another sock or yarn for a soft cuddly doll. Once fully stuffed sew the open end of the sock.
For arms cut off two fingers from an odd glove and fill with yarn. Working with one stuffed arm at a time, hand stitch each arm on either side of the sock doll with the head of the sock doll facing up. Make sure each arm is sewed securely to each side to prevent the unraveling of any loose knitted stitches.
For hair, use yarn and cut strands of the same length. Gather the strands and tie a piece of yarn at the middle of cut strands then sew the tied end to the top of the sock doll's head for a ponytail. For pigtails, repeat the same step twice and sew each ponytail opposite from each other on the top of the sock doll's head.
For eyes take two buttons and sew them on the face of the sock doll. You can create a mouth for your doll by using a pipe cleaner and bending it into a smile, glue pipe cleaner on the face.
Add any other buttons and embellishments to decorate the sock doll as desired.
For the miniature sock doll follow the same steps but use a smaller sock for the body, or just cut a large sock in half and sew the end when stuffed.
